Dr. James builds strategy-rich student-centered programming in the areas of academic success, professional development, and instructional communication. She has spent her career designing curriculum and programming that maximizes the needs of the Millennial Learner to increase effectiveness in the college classroom. She has written curriculum for several colleges, assisted faculty in designing curriculum and facilitated lessons for effective learning,
Previously the Director for The Center for Legal Pedagogy at Thurgood Marshall School of Law, she is now the Executive Director for Student Academic Support Services and The First Year Experience at Texas Southern University.
Dr. James-Piper received her B.A. from Hollins University, her M.A. from Texas State University, and her Ed.D. from Texas Southern University. She is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.

Ms. Goodwater is skilled at working in a fast paced environment due to her programming and human resources background as a Site Director with the City of Houston. She has more than 10 years experience working building programming that focuses on academic success and life skills for minority students.
Ms. Goodwater earned Master’s Degree in Human Resources Management, has earned Project Management Graduate Certification. Ms. Goodwater is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.
Mareo Hendrickson, M.Ed.

Mr. Hendrickson began his professional career as a social worker after completing his B.S. in Social Work from Southeast Missouri State University. He completed his M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from the University of Missouri-St. Louis.
Mr. Hendrickson has built a comprehensive advising expertise through his work in the areas of social work, financial aid, academic counseling, and programs for special populations, to name a few. He has held several leadership roles in higher ed, and is committed to continuing to learn more about the needs of the students he serves.
His students and colleagues will tell you that he has a passion for issues related to social justice, equity and empowering students to achieve their academic and professional goals. His favorite quote embodies how he serves students: helping them achieve victories on their way to the ultimate goal, graduation!
